Our Wedding Anniversary - thanks for all the messages. Hotel sent us a plate of fruit and a card from the Manager which was lovely to find in our room. We went to the Italian Restaurant last night - fantastic food - 6 courses plus bread, and coffee. Not sure if the plane will be able to take off due to the excessive weight gain! The restaurant had set us out a specially decorated table and the service was certainly 5 star.
Highlight of the day was the Royal Wings Olympic Games. Early afternoon Simon was dragged from the pool by the entertainments team (dressed as a Pantomime Dame complete with balloons strategically placed) as they selected contestants for the Royal Wings Olympic Games. Simon did not need much persuading to take part - but this could have been something to do with the fact that contestants were daubed with red or black paint to identify the teams - Simon had red hand print paints placed all over his body by a young bikini clad girl from the team. He leapt from the pool and was last seen disappearing down a path with her for rehearsals - much to the amusement of the rest of our party.
The children decided to forego the wave pool in order to support Simon in the games. Around 50 people had been selected. The games started and there were a series of races - tug of war, and an assault course. Then on the grassy area where this took place all the water sprinklers came on and soaked everyone to keep them cool. Great fun was had by all and video evidence of Simon's 'run' will be published soon.
It has been amazing that we have met a number of families who have been reading our blog and have now arrived here at Royal Wings. For others who are reading - we hope you have enjoyed this record of our holiday which has been fantastic. In our opinion this hotel fully deserves its 5 star rating and we cannot really fault it in any way. The staff have been so friendly and helpful and as for the food .......
Will the plane take off ? We are now all on diets. Join us again soon for our next holiday blog - looks like it could be Turkey again??
As the entertainment team say - Ciao ciao, Bye Bye !!

Day 13 Heat heat and more heat
Very warm again but a good location was found with six free beds ready for sun bathing. Natalie went to play volleyball at the beach and we joined her to watch. Cindy and Mike went for a swim in the sea, the waves were really high today, and then they walked along the beach to look at the hotel they stayed in last year. The hotels that were being built last year have now been completed and have guests staying there.
Visit to the bubbles area of the pool for relaxation and then of course the lunch in the food area. Further time spent in the pool as the temperature was reaching around 41C. Cindy's fame has spread - a visitor at the hotel was talking to Jane about Trip Advisor and the blog they had seen on the internet. They then realised that we were writing that - they have been following it prior to their arrival.
Turkish night in the restaurant tonight so some interesting food on offer. Just discovered that Lara beach is famous for the International Sand Sculpting Exhibition about 8km from here. Having been here for nearly two weeks we have only just found out about it. So maybe too late to visit this year but worth looking into for the future.
Evening show not visited tonight - drag act - Jamie stated ' it is disgrace to women's beauty', so we did not go!! Mike and Simon totally agreed and were very happy with the beauty around them!!

Day 12 Shopping trip
The shopping trip had to happen. So after breakfast we set off from the hotel in intense heat. We travelled past many of the other hotels and scooted past two camels waiting at the side of the road as they look rather mean!! Simon decided to venture out with us with many complaints about the distance to the shops! (About 3/4 of a mile!! at the most)
Air conditioned shops so most welcome and we managed to find some purchases very quickly and got some good discounts compared with hotel prices.
Got back to the hotel and being so hot went into the bar and ordered 3 colas. The barman gave us a funny look and repeated you want 3 colas (or so we thought). He asked us to sit down and appeared with 3 colour children's cocktails for us with straws, and tinsel etc. Most refreshing but not quite the Pepsi Cola we had ordered.
Then clearly the heat had got to our heads as we got in the lift to go back to our room to get changed for the pool. Walked along the corridor and spoke to people that were in the room next to ours who were going into their room. Then we tried our room key and it failed to work. Tried again and then noticed that we were in fact on Floor 6, not Floor 5!! All the floors look the same and we had been caught out completely.
So we hit the pools fast to reduce the temperature. On the way to the pool Jamie was playing with his water gun and was thrashing it about. He swung it round and did not realise that there was a man walking behind him. On swinging the water gun round he hit the poor man full on in the crutch and he groaned and bent double. He muttered quite a few words that may have been in Turkish, Arabic, or possibly German but they were fast and furious and he clearly had gone cross eyed. Medical treatment must have been required as he wandered off towards the hotel reception! So diplomatic relations continue to be worked at here.
Very hot today and this evening very hot and humid. Went to the show and watched the distant firework display as well. Lots of mosquitoes this evening. We walked down to the beach after our meal and tried to find some breeze out on the pier. We then saw why this is truly a five star hotel as one of the hotel workers was busy on the beach - his job to drag something that looked like a plough to smooth out the sand ready for tomorrow!! What a job and in this heat too.

Day 11
Each morning Simon and I venture out to claim some sunbeds by the pool. The rule of the hotel is that you cannot reserve beds before 9am or the bed Police will collect in the towels and leave a warning notice. The reality of this is that they fold up the towels but leave them on the beds with a warning notice. So this does not really stop people reserving beds before 9am. Daft rule really.
We have been finding beds in a new location for the last couple of days - situated near the baby pool, with good access to the main pool area. This has been a good find as it is much quieter than near the sports pool and there is good access to the food outlets and the toilets!!
Jamie took part in a pool game today - boule in the water - he won four out of five times. Lydia and Natalie did not rejoin the mini club as they decided that they were not going to get involved today. They chose however to sit on their sunbeds and complete a Soduku.
Cindy and Mike went for a swim in the sea in the afternoon. Very hot day - the temperature at around 3pm was 41C. After 40 minutes of swimming returned to the pool to cool off - the sea is warmer than the pool.
Simon claimed he could complete a Soduku in 30 seconds - so the challenge was set and thirty minutes later Bandana man needed help. He claims he was being hampered! Natalie managed to complete a Soduku and Lydia marked it and wrote - Fantastic well done 9/9 on it - makings of a teacher here.
Fantastic meal tonight and Jamie managed to get 5 flavours of ice cream on his cone - it was enormous and required a plate to avoid spillage. Plan originally was to walk to the shops tonight but it was too hot - so hope to go tomorrow.

Day 10 - a strange incident!!
A quick update from yesterday - Bandana Man decided to stop using his Bandana as he was getting a white line across his head!! Afternoon swim in the sea and we all swam out to the marker buoys barrier - about 100m from the shore. We then swam back in - Jane sat and watched from the pier.
As Bandana Man came back to shore he complained of pain in his side and it appeared that he had been attacked by something - either animal or vegetation. He had a very red rash on his side and the pain increased. Quite worrying as you can imagine. We were not sure if it was a jelly fish or an allergic reaction to some seaweed that he brushed against on a rope when we swam out.
A visit to the nurse and a trip to the local pharmacy and he was treated for allergic reaction. Pleased to say that he is fine and well again today and the hotel nurse was very good. No sign of a mark at all now and all the pain gone - so quite a stange incident!
Had a quiet day today and sat in a different part of the pool complex. Lydia joined the kids club (very briefly) with Jamie and Natalie. It was about 30 minutes which she throroughly enjoyed but claims it was only 5 minutes as she does not do kids club!! The reason for joining were the childrens pool games that they found today. Two relay teams swimming short distances getting balloons to pop. Complaints that the balloons were too hard to pop - so obviously 5 star balloons - however they were on the winning team so all was forgiven. Enjoyed the end of the game where they all had to leap in madly.
This afternoon the media had obviously heard of the arrival of Bandana man and his side kick!! ATV (Turkish television Channel 3) arrived with an interesting looking reporter. TV camera and microphone appeared and they were filming a feature about the hotel. We were no doubt caught on camera as we were in the middle of the pool swimming up and down. They took all sorts of shots and then moved on around the grounds taking more footage. Obviously quite a report as they spent all afternoon at the hotel showing everyone having fun. Shots of the pool, pool games etc. We declined giving an interview as all approaches should always be made through our agent!
Lydia was approached by the entertainments team to see if she would like to take part in the Mini Miss Royal competition tomorrow night. Once again the offer was declined as she did not fancy the idea.
Quite a fun packed day - and sadly must now close as it is time once again to head off to the restuarant for more food - it has to be done.
